About Laurence H. Silberman After serving on the National Labor Relations Board, at the Departments of Labor and Justice, and as ambassador to Yugoslavia, in 1985 Laurence Silberman was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. In 2004 and 2005, Judge Silberman served as co-chairman of the commission established by President Bush to examine American intelligence on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq prior to the war. In 2008, Judge Silberman received the nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
