WEDNESDAY, JULY 02, 2008 War & Terror with Philip Bobbitt: Chapter 3 of 5 During the 20th century it was important that the law and the Allied war strategy were separate. According to Bobbitt, “We won the war and then the law followed.” In the current century, however, Bobbitt says our challenge is to unite the two: Law and war strategy must meet since we are now fighting to protect what free people have a lawful right to do. PERMALINK About Philip Bobbitt Philip Bobbitt teaches at the University of Texas and at Columbia University, where he is the director for the Center for National Security. He has served in a number of government posts, and has been a member of the National Security Council. Bobbitt’s most recent book is Terror and Consent: The Wars for the 21st Century.
